If the taxpayers now own 80% of AIG, does this mean the taxpayers are in control of the AIG offshore accounts?
All these companies the taxpayers have bailed out have offshore bank accounts. Why keep on bailing out these banks and companies. Make them use the offshore money. It is legal for these companies to have offshore accounts to avoid the IRS. This hurts the American taxpayers! I've really had enough of the US government putting taxpayer money in these rat holes.

- Probably not. We, the taxpayers, have no control over AIG. After we bail them out, we have no legal recourse to exert any meaningful control. Sucks, but there's not much individuals can do about it. Unless . . . we join together and file a class action lawsuit. Ask a lawyer about this. Maybe thousands of people together can sue AIG successfully. To find a good lawyer with relevant experience, contact your local bar association. Try your city, county, or state bar association. They should have a lawyer referral program and be able to point you in the right direction. Most of the lawyers recommended through the referral service will give you a free initial consultation (or a very small fee which is merely to support the referral program). If you're not sure how to contact your local bar association, ask the American Bar Association. http://www.abanet.org http://www.findlegalhelp.org
